Security Analyst at Uppsala University

The Security Department at Uppsala University supports the rest of the organization in areas such as security protection, export control, information security, cybersecurity, fire safety, and campus security. The department has about 15 employees with various areas of expertise and interests, who together conduct training and information initiatives, work with risk management, investigation, auditing, development, and follow-up of security work. The Security Department operates reactively, proactively, and with quality assurance.

The work is characterized by great flexibility and freedom with responsibility. Within the department, we continuously work with employee-adapted competence development.

Job Responsibilities

As a security analyst, your tasks will include:

  • Analytical work, such as leading the process of updating the authority's security protection analysis and risk and vulnerability analysis
  • Process development, process management, advisory, handling, and internal training regarding security protection
  • Risk management
  • Compliance with regulations regarding dual-use civil products and military equipment within research activities
  • Total defense and preparedness
  • Monitoring the external environment and collaborating in these areas
  • Compilation of decision-making materials

Qualifications

As an applicant for the role, we expect you to have:

  • A relevant master's degree, for example in political science, peace and conflict studies, law, or other education and experience deemed equivalent by the employer
  • Good ability to express yourself verbally, in writing, and to give presentations in Swedish and English

As a person, we see that you have:

  • Good ability to prioritize tasks, systematize information, place things in a larger context, and pedagogically describe complex events
  • Good ability to work in a team, understand others' perspectives, and communicate in an international environment
  • Good ability to take personal responsibility and deliver high-quality results

Desirable/meritorious

Documented experience of the tasks described above.

About the Employment

The employment is permanent (a probationary period may apply). The extent is full-time. Start date according to agreement. Place of employment: Uppsala

The position is classified in a security class and requires Swedish citizenship in accordance with the Security Protection Act (2018:585). A security clearance with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made.

The position may include serving as a duty officer (TiB). Uppsala University has a local collective agreement regarding readiness.
